Branches of Figs
Lately I've started to paint more and more stylized and abstracted still life subjects. I enjoy using overt layered texture to create depth and character. These overlapping fig tree branches are a twist on the format of classic vintage botanical drawings and inspired by the dark blue-purple figs my grandmother has in her yard. The dark skin, vibrant pink fruit, the curving forms of the leaves, and textured brush strokes combine together to create a feeling of movement and soft romance.

Chaos Healing
This flowing abstract piece was created to be a form of artistic catharsis. During the courser of treatment for an appendectomy I had in the spring of 2025 I required a few extra injections and IV treatments which left a colorful series of bruises all along both of my arms. As an artist who has trouble sitting still but was low on energy and told to take it easy in the days following my surgery I spent a good amount of time drawing and painting. In the days following the bruises healed and shifted revealing an array of colors that inspired the palette of this piece. The motion both chaotic and calming. Learning to heal with the chaos, not in spite of it.

Cubes of Contemplation
This is one of my early pieces that I created when I first started experimenting with abstract watercolors. This piece had previously been lost but was recovered last year when an old portfolio full of paintings turned up protected deep in storage like a small time capsule of my early work. This piece plays on the idea of "thinking outside the box" showing a series of squares and rectangles and squares overlapping and flowing into each other meant to represent ideas of non-linear thought and the brainscape of an overactive mind.

A new piece in my collection this piece is an experiment in texture and mixed-media. Mush of my work is highly pigmented and using a large variety of color. It is rare that I create anything muted or monochrome. I wanted to create a piece full of visual interest without the aid of color. The textured acrylic is a mix of white, black, grey, silver, and gold tones layered repeatedly over each other and then pulled through into ripples using a curved edge tool. The layers of paint were then scrubbed away in sections revealing the dynamic layers below adding a grunge inspired look to the modern piece. Beadwork has always been a special passion of mine, beginning farther back than my painting journey. Adding a frame of beads adds additional eye catching texture, that catches the light creating different effects, as well as adding an elegant "found object" feel. |

Garlic, Onion, and Honey
This photo is part of a photography series based on Baroque / Dutch Golden Age still life oil paintings while mixing in surrealist or unexpected elements. This photo, and the other in this series, plays with form, contrast, and movement while exclusively using items I had around my home. My goal was not only to creating a captivating image but to also create art with accessible items like overgrown garlics and onion from my pantry, a scrap of black fabric, aluminum foil, honey, and a little bit of a dead wasp nest found under a friend's car.

Grandma's Chocolate Chip Cookies
Baking is my safe, happy place. In moments of stress or unrest or if I just need to relax my instinct is to bake something. It's also always been I way I show love or affection to people. This circular canvas stylized piece was created using color and texture to represent a memory rather than the real thing. This painting is not meant to look like a plate of cookies, it's my attempt at trying to capture the feeling of fresh baked cookies that smell so good to have to take a bite before the plate can hit the table. Plus to add a unique effect I used two varnishes, a matte of the cookies and a gloss on the plate to add additional dimension and a glowing like effect.

Path Through the Galaxy
One of my favourite things to do when I'm feeling creatively bottled up is collage. The act of pulling pieces from multiple images to create a cohesive mash-up scene helps me to unlock of different aspects of my creative mind. In some instances I have the idea for the scene first and in other instances, like this digital collage, a photo will trigger an idea and I then need to find other elements to fill out the scene. This piece was inspired by it's background. The photo of this Nebula was one of the first images from the James Webb Telescope and it immediately made me think of rolling hiking hills which then make me think of a person out walking their dog on a scenic hike and what would that look like in this setting.

As I've a said, collage is a great way to get my creative brain working again when I've been struggling. When I'm out and about, I'm always looking for items that I can use to create. This collage, and others in my torn paper collage series, were created using a collection of paper off cuts that I got from a local stationary store. This piece mixes texture and pattern with the freedom of abstract expression to create a vibrant bouquet of roses and dots.

Created by blending and layering a rainbow of colors allowing the paint to blend and flow creating unique shapes. I designed this piece not only to draw the eye but to invite the view to figure out for themselves what they see. The abstract forms and play of bold, contrasting colors makes for a fun composition and brings attention to the forms. A few things I see: A Fae Unicorn, A purple pterodactyl, a pod of dolphins, ripening peaches. What about you?

Sunset to Sunrise
This print was originally designed as a seamless pattern for a design contest. I hand painted each cloud, sun, and moon motif using watercolor and then digitally collaged the scanned painting elements. I've created many watercolor pattern designs this way, but this was my first time trying this technique while I was still very new to the world of pattern design. When I first started making prints of my work this was one of the first designs I wanted to see printed. I have always loved how the colors work with each other in this soft gradient, the whimsy of the swirls in the clouds. This piece makes me feel calm and happy and I've had so many wonderful conversations with others who have resonated with this piece in their own way including those, who like me, and struggled with insomnia. The gentleness of this piece holds a lot of feeling for me, not just in when it was created but for what it has become as I experience other peoples view of it.

Weekend Brunch
I've never been a big breakfast person, in the sense that I hate eating first thing in the morning. But I love breakfast food, particularly eggs. In my first year of university it became a standard breakfast that I'd have two fried eggs on toast with hot sauce. This become so regular that by the end of the year the very nice man who managed the griddle in the campus food hall knew my face and my order by heart, and if I strayed from my usual he'd ask if I was ok. But I'm very particular about my eggs. I love a soft yolk that oozes out once punctured but I need the white to be fully cooked. But when cooked right they're not only delicious but beautiful. This piece was one of my first stylized still life paintings and created entirely from memory without the use of reference images. As with my other stylized pieces my ode to eggs and bacon was not an attempt to paint realistic food, rather I wanted to capture a feeling. That feeling of staring down at a plate of perfectly cooked bacon and eggs on a Saturday morning and knowing that today is going to be a bright, happy day.
