January Update

2026 seems to have gotten off to a roaring fast start and there's a lot going on. Read Below for my thoughts on the first month of 2026, hitting personal milestones, event news, new designs, and read all the way to the bottom for your monthly freebie!

A Fast Start to the Year

January, in a personal sense, has been busy... Busy is a good way but still a lot. Between new work ventures, visiting family, discovering I have a food intolerance / allergy the hard way (this was not so much fun) and personal milestones like attending life events of loved ones, house hunting, and planning my wedding this fall have been very exciting and rewarding. However, this means that a lot of creative projects have taken a bit of a back seat while I get other aspects of my life organizing.

I am very lucky to be able to pursue my passion and love of art as much as I do, so when I have to take a break from creating to prioritize other things it can feel a little jarring. But these breaks are important not just for my personal life but also for my creative process. So much of my work is affected and inspired by what is happening in my life and the world around me and after taking a break I find it leads to a boost in my creativity and I often make things that I absolutely adore. So, while not being able to create as much as I would like this month has been frustrating, I'm excited to see what comes next.

Special February Event - The House Blend Exhibition

This month a selection of my work is being featured in The Art House Special Exhibition "The House Blend". If you're in Ottawa, you can see the exhibition and purchase originals and prints at 555 Somerset St W until the end of February.

New Designs

The next few weeks I'm focusing on sorting through my photography portfolio and looking into different ways to offer my photography and new ways to create with it. One of the first projects are these two brand new collage patterns using elements from my floral and botanical photography collections.
